  • Companion to our proven TSCA-189, SAP Generator

The new msi 189 SAP/Stereo/Video Receiver from Modulation Sciences is the perfect companion for your SAP Generator. Whether you are mandated to deliver Descriptive Video or not, the msi 189 is the professional choice. The new high quality receiver provides simultaneous off-air reception for SAP, Stereo and Monaural audio via balanced, line level XLR connectors. Our state-of-the-art design uses the most advanced technology to bring you ultra reliable reception of your off-air audio and video signals.

The msi 189 is an affordable, self-contained professional receiver. Ideal for off-air monitoring of BTSC stereo audio and the program audio carried on the SAP channel. The msi 189 is not a repackaged consumer module. A video output suitable for driving picture monitors is also available, as well as a wideband composite aural output.

Non-Intercarrier Aural Reception
The msi 189 does not depend on intercarrier detection for recovery of the BTSC stereo and SAP aural channels. This renders it completely immune to ICPM. SAW Filters protect the aural signal from video, especially chroma interference, offering freedom from the annoying buzz that sometimes accompanies contrasty scenes. Non-intercarrier aural detection also extends coverage of the aural channels to well beyond that of usable picture coverage.

Frequency Agile
The msi 189 features a stable synthesized tuner which receives any North American TV channel from 2 through 69. The operating channel is selected by adding or removing plastic jumpers inside the receiver. Internal tuning is efficient for discouraging "channel surfing."

Diversity Reception
The msi 189 includes two antenna inputs. The antenna is selected dynamically on the basis of minimum multipath and maximum signal strength. This switching is extremely fast and inaudible. A front panel switch overides the diversity feature and holds the unit on the "A" antenna input. This feature is perfect for use in high-multipath urban centers.

DTMF Signaling
Modulation Sciences incorporated DTMF signaling for remote control applications. The unit transmits standard DTMF tones over the SAP channel. Closures for 12 standard DTMF tones are wired to the auxiliary connector on the rear panel.
