Modulation Sciences announces the DIGITAL PROceiver® - The next generation of IFB for ENG™
Modulation Sciences, Inc. (“MSI”), which has provided innovative products for the broadcasting industry for almost 30 year, announced today that it would begin manufacturing its newest product, the DIGITAL PROceiver.
“We received many calls from customers asking us what we were going to do to address the IFB dilemma in the digital arena,” says Eric Small, Founder and Chief Technology Officer of MSI. “In response, we examined various potential solutions, which led us to the creation of the DIGITAL PROceiver, the next generation of the PRO channel”. Marty Faubell, Vice President of Engineering at Hearst-Argyle Television, Inc. was instrumental in encouraging MSI to come up with a solution for the IFB problems that will result from analog shutdown. Faubell also participated in tests of the earliest prototypes on Hearst television properties. According to Faubell, “The DIGITAL PROceiver brings an immediate improvement and cost savings in IFB and will provide a smooth transition through February 2009 and beyond.”
MSI is also pleased to announce that it was a recipient of the coveted STAR award, presented by TV Technology at the NAB Show in Las Vegas. Now in its ninth year, the STAR Awards (for Superior Technology Award Recipient) are designed to celebrate and showcase each year’s preeminent technological innovations available to the media industry. Modulation Sciences’ previous honors include the 1993 and 1997 NAB Pick Hit and the 2005 NAB Pick Hit for its MSI-4400 8vsb Analyzer.
Eric Small expects to have the low-latency DIGITAL PROceiver available for delivery no later than the end of the third quarter. “It’s our intention to deliver this cost-effective equipment to broadcasters quickly so they can utilize the benefits of the DIGITAL PRO in time for election coverage. Small explains “If the orders are received by us in a timely fashion we will get the units delivered in time for this critical news event.”
